How can we—anybody—be the richest country in the world and have:
- The highest incarceration rate of any advanced country?
- The greatest income inequality?
- The highest infant mortality?
- The most teen / unwanted pregnancies?
- The highest rate of people with no affordable access to healthcare (pre-Obamacare)?
- The highest rate of "food insecurity?"
- 20% of Americans depending on food stamps?
- Be way down the international rankings in dozens of other categories measuring health and welfare of the citizenry and nation?
We are living in a failed state, although the inevitable collapse may be decades in the future. It does not seem possible to keep making things worse and not have the shit hit the fan at some point.
