People who voted for Trump in 2016 can be forgiven because they were possibly:
- not paying attention
- gullible
- temporarily delusional
- ignorant
- ideologically married to the Republican Party
- racists
But people who support Trump in 2020 should be considered mentally ill and potentially dangerous. It is impossible to be even vaguely aware of current events and to not see the essential characteristics of the Trump Adminstration on full display: corruption, incompetence, failure, delusion, cronyism, nepotism, authoritarianism, contempt for American law and tradition and institutions, and 150,000 Americans dead with more to come.
