Would It Work Again?

In 1964, the right-wing extremist nutcase of the day Conservative candidate for President was Barry Goldwater. His people came up with the slogan, "In your heart you know he's right."

In the general election, Senator Goldwater was thoroughly trounced by President Lyndon Johnson. Some of the beating was possibly due to the campaign slogan developed by Johnson's advisors to describe Goldwater: "In your guts you know he's nuts."

Should we perhaps try that out again in 2016? Barry Goldwater seems like a fairly calm, thoughtful, rational human being compared to this year's Conservative candidate.
