By hiring Mr. Diaz, Mr. Bush wanted to send a clear signal that “the culture of the Bush operation will now be a Pickett’s Charge engagement campaign with his main opponents,” according to one Bush ally.

Although pervasive ignorance of basic history/reality is never surprising in Republicans, who regularly show that personal beliefs and ideologies are more important to them them than actual facts, it still a bit surprising that somebody would refer to one of the most disastrous episodes of the Civil War as a model for a campaign.
