Understanding Republicans

One would be hard pressed to come up with a better example of what it means to be a Republican:

James Inhofe, the senior Republican Senator from Oklahoma voted against the aid package proposed for victims of the recent super-storm Sandy.

The same Senator James Inhofe is expected to vote for—and in fact demand—a significant aid package for the good people of his state whose homes and businesses were damaged by the recent tornadoes.

"Fiscal responsibility" means, as the Republicans illustrate over and over and over again, going back to the first massive deficits created by Reagan, "spend money on the things *I* want, not the things you want." Or perhaps it means—closely related—"spend money on things that *I* propose, not the things you propose."
