We Should Have Solved The Problem Then

A prominent American once said, about immigrants, "Few of their children in the country learn English... The signs in our streets have inscriptions in both languages ... Unless the stream of their importation could be turned they will soon so outnumber us that all the advantages we have will not be able to preserve our language, and even our government will become precarious."

Voicing this grievance was Benjamin Franklin, circa 1790.*

If we'd only listened to wise ol' Ben, and dealt with the problem as he suggested, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now. Damn immigrants have been polluting and destroying and contaminating our beloved country for over 200 years.

Bush's and Cheney's (and Rove's) mothers "should have solved the problem then" - by never having kids.
