Here is a New York Times article from 11 July 2007 that illustrates fairly clearly how things work at the highest levels of government in the United States. Any non-Americans reading this may be surprised or disillusioned by this material, but those of us living in the good ol' U. S. of A. know that the Bush Administration has tragically and perhaps unalterably corrupted virtually every aspect and component of the US government. It doesn't matter where you look, you find minor variations of the same sordid details, the same corrupt priorities and practices, the same stench of favoritism and cronyism and the use of once-independent agencies and departments for the subversive purposes of the Bush political machine.
It's all about power: getting it, keeping it, and using it for one's own purposes, whatever they may be. Any pretense that the American President operates according to laws and principles has long since been proven empty.

If I hadn't heard the same darn thing from the Conservatives in '92-2k, with roughly the same amount of evidence, I'd be a lot more convinced.
Bush Derangement Syndrome: This under-articulate cowboy scion in the white house is destroying the American way of life.
Clinton Derangement Syndrome: This amoral socialist power-couple in the white house is destroying the American way of life.
I have half a hope that Hillary wins the white house, just so the current BDS-folks can hear the exact same things they say from the other side, and then listen to them comment on how absurd they are.
