Reading an LA Times article about McCain's temper, I came across the following quote:
"the issue (McCain's temper) was used effectively in the 2000 primaries by opponents who planted rumors that McCain was unstable because of his years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam."
Gee, I wonder who could have started a vicious, anonymous, impossible-to-refute rumor like that?

Just because it's so easy and so satisfying to imagine that Karl Rove is behind every dirty trick and every sleazy operation and every corrupt activity of George Bush and the White House and the Republican Party doesn't mean that he isn't!
